AFTRA H&R welcomes two new Trustees

Summary ... Mr. Stephen Mirante of CBS Corp. and Mr. Ron Wilcox of Warner Music Group have joined AFTRA H&R’s Board of Trustees.

The AFTRA Health & Retirement Funds is pleased to welcome Mr. Stephen Mirante, Senior Vice President of Human Resources Specialty Services for CBS Corporation, and Mr. Ron Wilcox, Executive Counsel, Business Affairs, Strategic and Digital Initiatives for Warner Music Group, to its Board of Trustees. Both Mr. Mirante and Mr. Wilcox will serve as Producer (Employer) Trustees for AFTRA H&R.
Mr. Mirante oversees Human Resources functions – including compensation, benefits, HR information systems, equity administration and HR finances – for CBS Corporation, supporting nearly 30,000 active employees. Before joining CBS Corp. in 2005, Mr. Mirante held senior executive positions with other firms, including Watson Wyatt Worldwide and PricewaterhouseCoopers. Mr. Mirante has been interviewed as an industry expert in network television appearances, and he has also authored several articles published in HR industry trade publications.
Mr. Wilcox advises Warner Music Group’s leadership regarding the business affairs aspects of global digital strategy, business development and related areas. Before joining Warner Music Group, Mr. Wilcox served as a senior executive for Sony BMG Music Entertainment and also worked as a leading industry consultant in the areas of new media and technology. Mr. Wilcox has been actively involved in prominent industry trade organizations such as the Recording Industry Association of America and Sound Exchange, serving on multiple committees for each organization.
In the same month that Mr. Wilcox and Mr. Mirante joined the Board, Mr. James Sirmons, a longtime CBS executive, retired from the AFTRA H&R Board in June following 42 years of distinguished service as a Trustee. After joining the AFTRA H&R Board in the spring of 1968, Mr. Sirmons served as Chair of the Employer Trustees from 1972 through 2003. Throughout his tenure on the Board, Mr. Sirmons was known as a leader who helped create and maintain collegial and effective working relationships between the Employer and Union Trustees, as well as between the Board and the AFTRA H&R staff.
The AFTRA Health & Retirement Funds are governed by a Board of Trustees with representation from both AFTRA and contributing industry employers. The Trustees are responsible for setting the benefits, rules and regulations of the Funds and generally overseeing AFTRA H&R operations.
