Health care reform becomes law

Full story … Congress recently passed comprehensive health care reform legislation, which was signed into law by President Obama on March 23, 2010. In the days that followed, Congress passed a package of changes to the new law in a reconciliation bill, which was signed into law on March 30, 2010.

The new laws will require certain changes to be made to most health plans, including the AFTRA Health Plan. Some of these changes will become effective later this year, and others will not be implemented for several years. Please know that the Health Fund’s Trustees, staff and consultants are thoroughly reviewing these new laws to identify what changes are required. AFTRA H&R will provide advance notice to participants in writing of these or any other changes to the Health Plan. Watch your mail and this Web site for future Benefits Updates and information.
