When your family grows

Be sure to notify AFTRA H&R as your family grows. You may add your new child to your AFTRA Health Plan even before the beginning of your next coverage period. But you must notify AFTRA H&R in writing and submit a copy of a recorded birth certificate*, adoption papers issued by a court or a letter of placement from an adoption agency within 30 days of the event to take advantage of this right.

For any life event that could affect your coverage, you must notify AFTRA H&R in writing. Please send this notification, along with supporting documentation, to the address below:

* If the recorded birth certificate is not available within 30 days after the birth, AFTRA H&R will accept a copy of an official birth record (such as a hospital release form that lists the mother’s and child’s names) to add a newborn to coverage. However, a copy of the recorded birth certificate must be received by AFTRA H&R as soon as it is available.
