Earnings Statement FAQs

When were the 2009 Earnings Statements being mailed?

2009 Earnings Statements were mailed to all registered performers during the second week of June 2010.

Are there any changes or additions to the Earnings Statements for 2009?

Yes. Your 2009 Earnings Statement includes two new columns – “Rate” and “Contribution Amount” – with information that was not reported in previous years.

Why was information about contributions added to the 2009 Earnings Statements?

The “Rate” and “Contribution Amount” columns were added because an amendment to the Retirement Plan changed the way pension benefits accrue on and after May 1, 2009. After this effective date, pension benefits are calculated using a formula based on employer contributions – not covered earnings – credited on your behalf. This change does not affect any pension benefits you accrued prior to May 1, 2009. Covered earnings continue to determine both your qualification for the AFTRA Health Plan and your vesting status under the Retirement Plan. To learn more about this amendment to the Retirement Plan, refer to the April 2009 Benefits Update.

What if I don't receive an Earnings Statement?

If you have not yet registered with AFTRA H&R, we cannot track your earnings and contributions or send you an Earnings Statement; visit our registration Web page, download a Performer Registration Form and complete and return the form to AFTRA H&R. If you have already registered but did not receive a statement, please call Participant Services at (800) 562-4690 to verify that AFTRA H&R has your correct mailing address on file.

What do I do if earnings or contributions for work I performed in 2009 are missing from my statement?

Always contact AFTRA H&R about any earnings or contributions from 2009 which you feel should be included but do not appear on your statement. Please call Participant Services at (800) 562-4690 or send us a completed Earnings Discrepancy Form along with the required documentation. Refer to the Policy for Required Documentation for Covered Earnings Inquiry for details. One common reason earnings are excluded from statements is because earnings are reported late. Any 2009 earnings reported to AFTRA H&R after March 31, 2010 will not appear on your 2009 Earnings Statement, as this was the date data was finalized for the printing and mailing of the statements.

What documentation should I send with my inquiry?

Please refer to the Policy for Required Documentation for Covered Earnings Inquiry. This policy outlines the necessary documentation performers are required to supply to AFTRA H&R in order to resolve earnings discrepancy issues when they believe that employers have failed to report or have underreported AFTRA-covered earnings to AFTRA H&R.

Why doesn't my Earnings Statement show earnings or contributions prior to 2009?

The 2009 Earnings Statements only show earnings and contributions for covered work performed in 2009. For questions about your earnings in prior years, call Participant Services at (800) 562-4690.

What if my statement lists covered work and earnings or contributions for which I never received payment?

Contact your AFTRA union representative and explain the situation. The representative will contact the signatory employer (the company signed to the AFTRA collective bargaining agreement for which you performed work) to attempt to resolve this issue.

Where is my pension estimate, and how do I get one?

Please note that your Earnings Statement is not a benefit statement. If you are vested in the Retirement Fund pension plan and would like a personalized pension projection, or if you are not vested and would like to know how many years of vesting credit you have, please contact Participant Services at (800) 562-4690.
