Dear AFTRA Health & Retirement Fund Participants:

With the recent turmoil in the national and world financial markets, we at the AFTRA Health & Retirement Funds know that these are challenging times for our economy and our participants. While it’s true that the Funds will be affected by recent events, you should know that the Board of Trustees of the AFTRA Health & Retirement Funds and its Investment Committee have worked hard with their investment consultants to diversify the Funds’ portfolio with a goal of lessening the impact of volatile markets. 

This strategy has helped the AFTRA Health & Retirement Funds serve Participants without interruption since the 1950s.  Please know that the Board of Trustees and its Investment Committee, in consultation with the Funds’ investment consultant, are closely monitoring the markets, the current economic climate and the Funds’ professional asset managers.  We will continue to make adjustments as appropriate in order to prudently manage the plan assets that fund our pension and health benefits.
